Grief and hope: how do they go together?

Grieving is the process of saying goodbye to something or someone you valued. When we talk about grief most people think of the death of a loved one. However many life events cause a loss, for example being made redundant, divorce, selling of your childhood home, death of a pet.

Unexpectedly widowed in her 40s, Alison found herself alone with two children and a demanding job. She speaks of the emotions she experienced and the 4 step Grieving Process she went through.

Happy wishing for 2019

In the UK and perhaps in many other countries too, we seem to be entering the New Year in turmoil. Brexit is upsetting both the UK and Europe, Trump is unsettling the stock markets and countries are thinking about trade tariffs.

Now is the time between Christmas and the start of 2019 to reflect on both the global and your personal situation.

What did you experience in 2018 and what would you like to bring in for you and your loved ones, your soul family, for 2019?

Think about the things that went well for you in the last year. For me 2018 was a good year. I made some good progress in becoming an author, mentor and life coach: read more

Home: do we value what it gives us?

I could not imagine what it is like to not have a home and a clean, warm bed to sleep in at night. Yet people sleep rough on our city streets every night, some by choice others by necessity. Yet it is not without its dangers. I remember how upset my daughter was when their friendly local tramp in her university city died of hypothermia one winter.

Hope: how to find the next step of belief

Hope is the thing with feathers

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Hope

Hope is a powerful emotion.

hope4

We connect with the universe through our emotions.  Hope of survival, a better life, finding love all bring us strength to keep moving forward.  It is said that in times of war or crisis those who retain hope have a greater probability of surviving.  I believe that it is the emotion of hope that taps us into the universal energy which is all around us.  From this energy we are given strength and capabilities to help us to survive.  We just need to ask for it.
