Moving toward the Winter Solstice
This Winter Solstice Green Witch ritual invites you to slow down.
This is the moment when the earth herself pauses… breathes… and begins again.
And just like her, you are allowed to soften your pace and settle into stillness.

The Solstice marks the pivot point of the dark half of the year
For a brief moment, the sun stands still. Light stops its steady descent and begins its quiet, gentle return. Nature shifts without effort – a reminder that renewal doesn’t require force, only openness.
For a Green Witch, the Solstice is a doorway, not a deadline.
It isn’t about doing more. It’s about making space for the light to return within you first. When your inner world softens, renewal rises naturally.
🌿 A tiny Solstice teaching
The Winter Solstice invites you to trust the cycle of renewal.
Darkness is not an ending; it is the womb of becoming. What looks still on the surface is full of quiet potential underneath. This is why Green Witch practice at midwinter is centred on rest, light, and gentle intention – never pressure.
🌱 Practice for the week: A Solstice Seed of Light

Tonight, or at dawn on the Winter Solstice (21st December 2025):
- Light a single candle.
Let its glow be the returning sun. - Hold it at heart level and take three slow breaths.
Feel yourself settle into the moment. - Whisper: “As the light returns to the earth, may it return to me.”
Let the words move through you. - Blow out the candle gently, sending your intention into the dark, fertile space of the season.
Small rituals can reshape an inner landscape. This one works quietly, but deeply.
✨ Final reflection
You don’t need to be ready for the new year.
You only need to open a little space for the returning light.
The rest will unfold in its own time.
How did you find this ritual? It is one of my favourites as it offers so much hope at a dark time of the year. Drop a comment and let me know how you found it.
