Rumi’s Reflections: Alison Wem’s Journal – Day 4

The spirit is so near

that you can’t see it!

But reach for it… don’t be a jar, full of

water, whose rim is always dry. Don’t be the

rider who gallops all night and never sees

the horse that is beneath him.

                                                                     Jalal al-Din Rumi

This is so true. My soul Lucinda is so close yet so far. I have to consciously think about her to be able to feel and hear her. She is wise but I have to remember to ask for her help. read more

Rumi’s Reflection Journal: join Alison Wem on her journey as she experiences the Covid pandemic

Many of us feel constrained by the attempts of our governments to control the virus – lockdowns, curfews, isolation from our loved ones.

We are never really alone. Going within and reflecting opens up a whole new world. While meditation calms us, I have found having something to reflect on and to sense my own feelings, is a constructive practice that helps me to re-connect with the wisdom of my soul.

To help me with my reflections on Rumi’s poetry, I have chosen to use Paper Trail’s book – Rumi’s Reflection Journal. It gives me individual Rumi quotes to consider. Thank you Paper Trail. read more

Lives remembered: Crystal Pyramid in Ancient Egypt

As a young girl of about 6-7 years, I climbed with a man to an aperture high on a pyramid where we looked out across the land. It was warm and pleasant, early in the evening when the work of the day is done and everyone is looking forward to the meal of the evening. Family groups were gathering outside their homes.

With great love this man explained to me the important of knowledge and how it might help to keep the people and land we love well and healthy. He placed a small, crystal pyramid in my left hand and my hand became warm. read more

Life is such a challenge: need some help?

Life and living standards have increased. You would think that this would make life easier, but I do not believe this is the case.

Life is very different from when I was young. With five adult children and many nieces and nephews, I see how the young run their lives.

Life is faster, more complicated plus there are greater physical distances between people as they travel or move for work.

I believe history will write up the 21st century as a revolution. The 19th and 20th centuries were an industrial revolution. The 21st century will be a technology and environmental revolution. Cleaner energy will become available, more effective health care and healthier life styles. read more
