Loneliness comes in many forms, possibly you might recognise some of them;
Businesses that thrive are ones with employees that are equipped to lead themselves. Today’s rapid technological change and uncertain economy requires this. Such a mindset not only creates greater satisfaction for individuals, but benefits the organisation’s customer satisfaction, competitiveness and productivity.
Everyone is accountable for leading themselves. It is a mindset rather than a position.
Having successfully led myself in roles from payroll team lead to Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Change Director whilst juggling being a mother of five; I understand how challenging life can be and how mindset can be pivotal to success.
The UK economy needs two million new managers for it to achieve its predicted growth.
Women could contribute to filling the gap in leadership skills. The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has launched CMI Women with the aim of achieving gender equality and to help employers to unlock more value in the UK’s workforce.
In many organisations women outnumber the men at junior levels yet the CMI’s 2016 National Management Salary survey shows just 43% of management roles are held by women. 1.5 million new female managers are needed by 2024 to achieve a 50/50 split between men and women.
My mum used to say to me “Good manners cost nothing” and the same applies to kind words.
Kind words unlock even the most steely of hearts. Kind words convey caring. Even a person whose heart has been hurt will respond to the compassion found in kind words.
Every kind word spoken is a gift to the receiver but also to you the speaker.
Today look for opportunities to express kind words that are sincere, thoughtful and warm.
Changing Face of Leadership
Our world is changing as witnessed by the Brexit vote, the election of Donald Trump in the U.S. and Italy’s decision not to accept the proposal for reform to governance leading to Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s resignation.
Mark Carney speaking in Liverpool’s John Moore University warned that people will reject free and open markets unless something is done to help those left behind by the financial crisis and globalisation.
“Globalisation is associated with low wages, insecure employment, stateless corporations and striking inequalities.”
Went to a Healing Voice workshop given by Jill Purce in Hampstead. It is such a beautiful day it feels good to be alive.
In many ways the desire to be a better person and to acquire greater wisdom on love and compassion is a deeply personal and private conversation. The journey one takes to achieve this is immaterial but undertaking or starting to undertake the journey is hugely important to the individual. Some seek a facilitator to help them in this journey.
Home is where you go to recharge your batteries. Create a calm home and then all who live in or visit your home will feel refreshed from spending time there.
Love and compassion make a home welcoming. Focus your attention on these things rather than collecting and managing ‘stuff’. A happy, calm home will be far more rewarding than a house full of possessions
Dedicated to my mother and the wonderful two little boys in our family who represent the next generation arriving.
