How to Create a Soulful Slow Morning Every Week

There’s something almost sacred about a morning without rush. No blaring alarms. No frantic search for keys. Just quiet, space, and the gentle unfolding of the day.

We’re so used to racing from the moment our feet hit the floor that a slow morning can feel indulgent – even impossible. But here’s the truth:

Slowing down, even once a week, can set the tone for everything that follows

Why slow mornings matter
A slow morning is more than a luxury. It’s a chance to check in with yourself before the world starts demanding your attention. When we give ourselves that breathing space, our nervous system calms, our mind clears, and we approach the day from a place of intention rather than reaction.

Simple ways to create your slow morning
You don’t need hours – just start with 20 – 30 minutes if that’s all you have. Here are a few ideas:

  • Wake up gently – open the curtains, stretch, and let natural light greet you.
  • Sip your favourite drink slowly – no phone, no to-do list, just you and the moment.
  • Step outside – feel the air on your face, listen for birdsong, notice the quality of the light.
  • Write a few lines – a gratitude note, a dream you remember, or a single word that captures how you want to feel today.

Making it stick
Choose one morning a week to protect – maybe Sunday or your least busy weekday. Let others know you’re unavailable at that time if needed. And remember, the magic isn’t in doing it perfectly, but in showing up for yourself with presence.

🌱 Practice for the week: Pick one morning in the next seven days to slow down. Plan it ahead, so you can wake without rushing – even if it’s just for 30 minutes. Notice how the rest of your day feels different.

Meet Alison Wem: Global Woman Club, Paris (zoom)

What an inspiring group of women are in the Global Woman Club. I went to meet them in London and found women who are passionate about their lives and what they do.

From all walks of life and nations, this group of women resonated with one another in being pro-active about their lives to make them what they want, rather than the circumstances they found themselves in. All have businesses which they are either their main career or they run alongside another career or family responsibilities.

Global Woman events are held each month across the globe to share wisdom and to support one another.

This month I am a guest speaker at the Paris zoom event. My topic is;

‘Finding your inner strength at home and at work’.

Mind, Body, Soul: finding health, balance and wisdom

What a wonderful event the Mind, Body, Soul event in Alexandra Palace is this weekend. I spent a wonderful day on Friday with a couple of friends sampling the delights of the event. There are so many things to try and sample with lots of free lectures and experiences. I rate this event highly and it is very reasonably priced. So if you are looking for something to do this weekend give it a go.

The highlights for me were:

Irene Gloux on stand 165 – Spirit Artist

When a medium gives you a message from a passed loved one, have you ever wondered if it is authentic? What better way to check out your message than to ask the medium to draw a picture of who is bringing you this message. Irene, spirit artist and medium, does just this. Do visit her stand -165 and sample it for yourself. My friend had a wonderful reading and a great picture to take home with her.

BrightNightLight – Robi an intuitive creative designer creates beautiful mandala style pictures which bring you a message. His stand is well worth taking a look at or if you cannot make the event, take a look at his Facebook page – BrightNightLight.co.uk 

I loved these pictures. I had to give you a bigger picture than normal of his wonderful products. They really resonated with me and reminded me of my own Soul Maps. Rob and I will definitely be talking after the Mind, Body, Soul event.

Barbara Meiklejohn – Shamanic Healer

I was lucky enough to be chosen for a shamanic drum healing for my back. There was not an instant change to my pain but on waking this morning, the intensity is much less and I feel more flexible. Good job done Barbara – thank you.

Barbara gave us all a wonderful experience of going down into Mother Earth lead by her drum and voice. Afterwards, I noticed how happy everyone looked and they smiled and chatted with one another. Visit Barbara on stand 40 or go to spiritvisions.com
