Do your friends and family think you are crazy?

What is this mindfulness stuff? a mental state achieved by focusing awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. Calmness and an inner peace arrives with this state.

How do you focus on the present moment? There are many techniques. Meditation is popular but a walk in the park, painting or colouring are good too.  I recommend painting a soul map as your brain responds to the symmetrical pattern.

You were once so different; perhaps your life values were different for example; career driven at all costs, you valued big houses and expensive cars, or perhaps you were too shy to do what you wanted to do with your life.  You felt happiness in some way eluded you.  You did not have a sense of satisfaction with your life.

What brought about your changes?  You asked yourself some of these questions and the answers made you decide to change how you were living your life.

  • who are the important people in your life and what is your relationship like with them?
  • do these relationships help you to learn something?
  • when did you last experience happiness and what caused it?
  • what makes you sad?
  • is there any pattern to when you experience happiness or sadness?
  • what values do you hold dear?
  • are you living your values?

So you made an honest evaluation of yourself and your life to date?  Perhaps you used the soul map approach suggested in Your Soul Family or you just looked at the highs and lows in your life to see what brought you the most and least satisfaction.

What did you conclude? You decided on what your life values are and you started to live by them.  You made choices in your life based on your values and what was important to you.
