Woman to Woman

I received the following from Menaca Joji, a friend and colleague who has written guest articles for Your Soul Family’s Life and Living blog. She received it from her Mum who lives in Sri Lanka. We both loved it. We do not know who wrote it so I am afraid I am unable to credit them. However we have followed their request to share it. We are very grateful for being reminded of all that is good in our lives.

Someone will always be prettier.

Someone will always be smarter.

Someone’s house will be bigger. read more

Wisdom of a Mother: the back broadens to match the burden

What do you gain from life’s challenges? My life seems so tough at times.

Life’s challenges develop you as a person.  They ask you to go beyond what you think is possible.  President Kennedy gave his fellow Americans a challenge on the 12th September 1962.

True love carries you through life

True love comes in many guises.  We love our parents, partner, children, friends and life itself.

Nurturing love:

We are nurtured by our parents love and in our turn nurture our own children.  Nurturing love is not just about teaching young people how to behave, reason and love; it is being there when things in their life go wrong.  True love might show as listening to them when a friend at school is unkind to them, helping to find an alternate route in life when a key exam is failed.  Being a parent does not stop when the child leaves home. read more

Fear: 2 steps to moving beyond fear

Fear of something is often worse than the doing of it

Throughout our lives we face challenges.  This is how we learn and grow.  However extreme challenges can bring fear which is a very paralyzing emotion.  It prevents us from feeling and acting naturally.  How do you step through fear and be yourself?

We have all felt fear at some time in our lives.  Perhaps it was of our first day at school, a new job, loss of a partner or being made redundant at work.  The anticipation leading up to the event is often the most fearful period.  Yet when the event happens you do mange to move through it and come out the other side. read more

Two wrongs do not make a right

In a maths formula two negatives make a positive.  In life this is not true.  If someone does you a wrong, reciprocating with another wrong does not rectify the situation.  In fact it does the opposite and compounds the bad behaviour and reduces yourself.

You may not be able to prevent others doing you a wrong, but you do get to choose how you respond.  Your choice expresses how you are as a person and how you chose to live your life.

Dedicated to my mother and the wonderful two little boys in our family who represent the next generation arriving. read more
