Changing face of leadership

Changing Face of Leadership

Our world is changing as witnessed by the Brexit vote, the election of Donald Trump in the U.S. and Italy’s decision not to accept the proposal for reform to governance leading to Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s resignation.

Mark Carney speaking in Liverpool’s John Moore University warned that people will reject free and open markets unless something is done to help those left behind by the financial crisis and globalisation.

“Globalisation is associated with low wages, insecure employment, stateless corporations and striking inequalities.”

Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England

The general population is not happy with many of their leaders and as a result changes were approved that shocked pollsters and the odds makers. While these examples are related to government, businesses face similar situations with the fate of the organization in the balance.

Leadership involves creating a vision for others to follow and providing the knowledge and approach to realising that vision. A leader steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively to address difficult situations.  A good leader also has judgement and a sense of ‘fair play’ in the actions taken.

In times of economic uncertainty and rapid technological change, businesses that thrive do so by encouraging employees, at all levels, to take a proactive role in leading themselves and their organisations to success.

“We are all leaders. Leadership is not a position, it is a mindset”

Fredrik Arnander author of “We are all Leaders”

Successful leadership necessitates;

  • knowing and managing yourself
  • awakening the leader within
  • finding calmness in the eye of the storm
  • clarity of thought and knowing ‘what is the right thing to do next’.

The Power of Knowing leadership techniques enables this clarity so you can hear your quality thoughts.  These thoughts motivate your teams to deliver your vision.

Leaders can be created, rather than born, by learning these techniques.

Do not fear change, for opportunity comes with it.  Learn to lead yourself from within by knowing and managing yourself.  Great things can come from it.

A mindful leader is someone who embodies leadership presence by cultivating focus, clarity, creativity and compassion to reach common goals that maximize the well being of all stakeholders.
